AI Engineering
How AI Actually Thinks
A first-principles guide to what's really happening inside a large language model, built from simple analogies up to the real mechanics.
Prompt Engineering
A simple guide to writing better prompts, so AI gives you the answer you actually want.
Connection Layer (MCP)
A simple guide to MCP, the protocol that lets AI tools talk to the outside world.
Skills
A simple guide to Claude Code Skills: what they are, and how to build your own.
Frequently asked questions
Are these guides actually free?⌄
Yes, every chapter in every guide here is free to read, no account or signup required.
Do I need to buy the AI Engineering course to read them?⌄
No. Each guide stands on its own. The paid course goes further into building, shipping, and evaluating AI-powered systems in production.
Which one should I start with?⌄
New to prompting AI well? Start with Prompt Craft. Building something that connects AI to real tools and data? Go to The Connection Layer. Curious how any of this actually works under the hood? Start with How AI Actually Thinks.
What's the difference between a "tool" and MCP?⌄
A tool is just a function an AI model can call, a search, a calculator, anything that does something the model itself can't. MCP is the open protocol that standardizes how those tools (plus resources and prompts) get described and connected, so the same tool works with any AI system that speaks MCP instead of being wired into one assistant by hand.
